The dates of the letters range from 1915 – 1916, while Sir John was stationed in Egypt and are mainly from his wife, Lady Joan Ramsden.  Over the following weeks, we will publish some extracts from these letter.

Letter dated 17th October 1915 – written by Geoffrey, his son.

“On last Wednesday night 6 zeppelins came over & raided London.  I heard them – they made a bistley row, they killed a lot of people.

Do come home safely and soon.

Best love from your loving son,

Geoffrey”.
