How to find us

Muncaster is located in the heart of the Western Lake District and, uniquely, is in the only coastal village of the Lake District National Park, Ravenglass.

If you're visiting Muncaster for the day, put in the postcode CA18 1RQ into your Sat Nav and that'll guide you directly to our church gate car park for the winter season, where you can purchase your tickets in the Owl Garden Tea room.  BUT please use the SatNav postcode CA18 1RD for Christmas at the Castle on the following dates 4th, 11th, 18th, and 21st to 23rd and 27th to 29th December, when our main entrance and car park will be open.

The main estate is a 77 acre paradise of history and wonder of the natural world in both the beautiful woodland gardens with its Georgian Terrace and views to Scafell Pike (England’s Highest Mountain) and wildlife. Not only can you enjoy the 200 owls on display in the World Owl Centre, if you're lucky, you may even spot the odd deer or red squirrel that are visit the edges of the gardens.

For visitors with disability/mobility concerns, we have a car park in the heart of the estate which can be accessed via Church Lane. This is approximately 1/3 mile around the corner from the main car park (heading south) and is the same entrance for coaches.

We have additional parking for our major festivals and parking is completely free, all day!. You can relax and enjoy your visit and indulge in our infamous home-made cakes or lunch in our on site cafe.

Northern Rail operate the Cumbrian Coast railway line connecting Ravenglass with many towns and villages of the Western Lake District with Carlisle in the north and Barrow-in-Furness in the south.
