General History Tour: Learn how Muncaster Castle and the lives of the Pennington Family have changed over the past 800 years.
Victorian Castle Tour: Dress up as a Victorian servant, see original household items that they used, play with Victorian toys to find out what life was like at Muncaster in the 1860s.
Dungeons & Dragons Tour: Use your imagination to travel back in time to a land of fairytales when Knights were bold, Princesses were rescued and dragons and eagles flew in these valleys. Let our own Dragon take you on a journey, following his clues to help you learn about the castle.
Houses & Homes Tour: See how Muncaster Castle was built and how it has changed over many years of belonging to the Pennington family. How does the castle compare to your house? What is the same and what is different?
Roman Muncaster: Why did the Romans come to live around Muncaster? Find out how they lived and what they left behind. Have a chance to examine some authentic Roman artefacts.
Costumes through the Centuries: What would you wear to a ball at the castle? Find out how fashions have changed over the years by looking at the Pennington family portraits and see some examples of the clothes they wore. Then imagine yourself dancing in the ballroom.
Victorian Christmas Tour: Available end November to mid December only for a special price of £6 per student; experience Christmas in a Victorian great house in the 1860s, meet the servants, sing some carols and you might even meet Santa Claus!
Nature Detectives Tour: Explore the gardens of Muncaster with bug hunting, games and activities. Wellies or sturdy shoes recommended as it can get muddy!

- Larger groups will be split into smaller groups for the tours.
- Tours are available between 10.00 am and 12.00 pm.
Educational visits are competitively priced at £4.50 per student or accompanying adult/supervisor, with one adult place free for every 10 students. Themed study tours are £1 per person when booked as part of an educational visit.
