Meet The Birds

Sorry there is no 'Meet the Birds' during our winter season to allow the Keepers to do maintenance and cleaning of enclosures.  Meet the Birds will return at 2:30pm every afternoon (end of March - end of October 2012) a talk is given on the amazing owls and other birds of prey at the Centre. This is your opportunity to see the birds at close quarters, watch them in flight (weather permitting) and to take that special photograph. The location may vary subject to weather and special events, (on Saturdays it often takes place in the Owl Garden due to weddings in the Castle).

Flying of the birds is not always possible. It must be stressed that this is not a 'falconry display', but is in actual fact part of the rehabilitation of the birds.

All of the birds have been victims of mankind in one way or another (cruelty or accidents).

The birds that take part in 'Meet the Birds' cannot survive in the wild or take part in the Centre's breeding programmes, due to their previous experiences, which means that they are permanent residents at the centre.

Following the demonstrations visitors are invited to 'Meet the Birds' and the handlers to ask questions and take photographs. You can also have your photo taken with a bird on the glove.
