Lights, music, sound and special effects transforms Muncaster's famous Gardens and Castle into an enchanting mystical experience after dark, guaranteed to amaze and entertain the entire family. 

This is themed for different times of the year. During Halloween week the gardens take on a truly spooky persona, with haunting sounds throughout the gardens and a ghostly light show on the front of the castle.
During Halloween week Our Café and Gift shop are open until 8.30pm, for that all important souvenir or hot chocolate with a dash of rum.

Halloween week runs from Saturday 27th October until Saturday 3rd November 2012. The illuminations are switched on at dusk and lights out is at 9pm.

Darkest Muncaster returns for Christmas at the Castle, when the gardens take on a more gentle and serene atmosphere.
Our Café and Gift shop are open until 7pm, for that all important souvenir or hot chocolate with a dash of rum.
Darkest Muncaster will return for Christmas on the following dates - December 9th,16th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 27th, 28th, 29th 2012. Winter opening prices apply, entry tickets bought during the day include the illuminations in the evening.

When darkness falls during Halloween week why not take part in a ghost tour of this famously haunted castle? Tickets for these tours sell out every year so make sure you book early! (tickets aim to be available to buy online from early February) see the Halloween page for more details.

After dark candlelit Victorian Tours of the Castle will run on the above dates in December 2012. Pre-booking recommended. Tickets can be purchased from this website and includes entry from 11am to include the Castle between 1pm to 3pm, plus the evening Victorian tour at your chosen time and the Darkest Muncaster Illuminations.
