Jamie Reed visits Muncaster Castle in Tourism Week |

Copeland MP Jamie Reed came face to face with a European Eagle owl at Muncaster Castle last week. During his visit to the attraction Mr Reed was introduced to Rolo, one of the stars of the popular Meet the Birds event that is held at Muncaster every afternoon. Mr Reed was visiting Muncaster Castle and The Pennington Hotel in Ravenglass as part of British Tourism Week, which is organised every year to raise awareness of the importance of tourism to the economy. Peter Frost Pennington from Muncaster says: “We wanted to give Jamie Reed a look behind the scenes at Muncaster to give him more of an idea of what goes on here. “As well as showing him some of the most popular parts of the attraction like the World Owl Centre we told him about our educational work, such as the computer club for local people and the wildlife watch club we run with local schools. We also talked about the importance of increasing the amount of accommodation for visitors in this part of Copeland.” Jamie Reed says: “I am very impressed with the quality of the visitor attraction on offer at Muncaster. It is easy to understand why it is one of the county's premier visitor destinations." |
