Walls Bath House boasts the highest free-standing Roman Walls in the North of England, and is a half-mile walk from the Pennington Hotel. Wasdale home of England’s smallest Church and Wastwater, England’s deepest Lake is a short drive away. North of Ravenglass lies Gosforth, a village with Viking connections – visit the Church to see an impressively tall Viking cross. In Egremont, the nearest town, you can see interesting ruins of a medieval castle, and a little further north lies Whitehaven, a Georgian town with a bustling harbour and marina which are well worth a visit.
