Winter views from the gardens; out to sea to the Isle of Man, not far offshore but rarely glimpsed by summer visitors and our views of the surrounding fells in the splendour of the winter sunshine.

With the prevailing westerly wind bringing bad weather steaming in off the Irish Sea straight over us to get stuck on the Central Fells further east, we do disproportionately well for sunshine hours here in the Western Lake District, giving us fine days when everyone else is languishing in the rain.
