Join us for a magical festive evening as Muncaster’s Hawk & Owl Centre presents 'The Flight Before Christmas'. We promise you a truly unique experience as our owls take flight under the night sky, offering a glimpse into the secret lives of these magical birds.

The evening begins in the castle at 5.45pm with a talk given on our important conservation work with owls, and other wildlife, at Muncaster. Dinner begins at 6.30pm in The Stable Yard with a hearty festive meal and a warming hot drink, surrounded by the glow of seasonal lights and the scent of winter spice in the air.

Once night has fallen, our display of owls will take place in the woodland arena, where we will introduce a variety of species, from our tiniest resident to some of the largest. Expert commentary will describe some of the unique adaptations that makes an owl an owl. With the help of special lighting effects, we will lighten up the arena enough for human eyes to be able to glimpse the owls as they fly to orchestral music. The finale of this display will conclude with a very special arctic species of owl, who will rightly take centre stage in this winter wonderland.

The event will conclude at 8pm.

'The Flight Before Christmas' promises to deliver a night of magic at the most wonderful time of year, offering a rare opportunity to see these magnificent birds in their element, learn from passionate experts, and enjoy Muncaster in a whole new light.

Please note: Due to the close proximity to the Birds of Prey, no dogs will be permitted at this event. The event will only go ahead in suitable flying conditions for the birds. We recommend bringing a torch and suitable outdoor clothing, including footwear.
