Muncaster Community Kitchen Garden

The Muncaster Community Kitchen Garden was opened in July 2026.

Throughout 2026, with the help of GDF funding, Muncaster's historic, walled kitchen garden has been brought back to life to serve as a hub for the local community. The transformation was been led by gardeners Sarah Autie and Sarah Pinney and a team of incredible volunteers who came together with the aim of reviving this previously underused space and unlocking its potential for the future.

Led by Sarah & Sarah, the Muncaster Community Kitchen Garden is a welcoming environment where volunteers and community groups can:

  • Learn practical gardening skills
  • Grow seasonal produce
  • Support biodiversity and sustainable growing
  • Take part in a shared community space rooted in heritage

Alongside Supported Gardening Sessions taking place throughout the week, the Community Kitchen Garden can be visited either as part of a wider visit to Muncaster, or for free via our Churchgate Entrance (CA18 1RQ), from 2pm-4pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

AN HISTORIC SPACE BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE

Muncaster's kitchen garden historically was tended to by a team of gardeners and provided food for Muncaster and the wider estate.

The Muncaster Community Kitchen Garden is following in these footsteps, with herbs and salad leaves grown in the garden already being served in The Stables Café.
