Friends of Muncaster
Muncaster is a ‘not-for-profit’ organisation and so the support of our Friends community helps us to maintain and restore this historic landscape and iconic Castle for future generations to come.
As a valued Friend, you’ll have unlimited access to the Castle and Gardens whenever we are open to the public (please note that we close in January and early February for essential maintenance and that the site is open weekends only Feb-Easter and Nov-Christmas) so you can experience the wonders of nature in all seasons. With the dramatic backdrop of the Western Lake District fells, the scenery is ever changing and Friends come again and again to relish in this historic and beautiful landscape.
Friends memberships can be purchased online or at site on visiting, run for a year from the date of purchase and are not available in conjunction with other offers.

When purchasing online, you can opt for continuous repayment at the point of payment, so that the Friends membership will be renewed automatically on the same card next year. If you opt for continuous repayment, you will still receive a reminder of the membership falling due. See our continuous repayment terms here. Continuous repayment customers will not receive a new card on renewal, please note, as the original one will be extended.

Repeat payments on your card
If you chose to use your credit or debit card to automatically renew your membership in 12 months time; this is called a continuous payment authority (CPA), also known as recurring transactions or instalment payments. CPAs differs from Direct debit as it uses your credit or debit card details rather than your bank details. By agreeing to a CPA you have entered into a contract with MVM Ltd, which has minimum 12 month duration.
A CPA gives a mandate to take a one off payment from your account annually to automatically extend your membership for a further 12 months, without seeking authorisation from you again.
The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 set out how retailers should act in setting up a CPA and during the course of a CPA.
You will receive a renewal letter 1 month before your card is due to expire,
If your card expires during the course of your CPA and does not automatically update; you will receive a notification to update your details.
Cancelling a continuous payment authority
