We're pleased to announce more of Muncaster is open for you to enjoy!

Please buy your tickets online before arriving (limited numbers available) to enjoy the gardens, maze and say hello to the birds once again in their centre!

PLEASE NOTE - BOTH WORLD OF OWLS MORNING DISPLAY AND SKYHUNTERS AFTERNOON DISPLAY ARE NOW BACK. DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS, LIMITED SPACES ARE AVAILABLE AND ARE ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS.

***From the 24th July – you WILL need to bring a face covering – as entrance to the attraction is through shops – so we look forward to seeing some fashionable coverings coming through!****

Opening Times

In 2020 we will be open as below;

Ticket options
Guided tours around the castle – these tickets include entrance to the full attraction including a scheduled slot on a 30 minute tour of the grand rooms of the Castle
Hawk and Owl centre, gardens and the meadowvole maze – this ticket includes the 11.30am world of Owls display and Sky Hunter display - both on a first come first serve basis.

FAQS

I am a friend of Muncaster do I have to book?
For visiting the gardens and the Hawk & owl centre – no.

However if you want to go on a guided tour of the castle you will need to book online – please use your Friends of Muncaster ticket number to get the discount.

What time are you open?
The gates will open from 10.30 - 5pm each day
The Hawk & Owl Centre will open daily from 11am – 4pm
The Castle tours will be between 12.15 and 2.45pm each day – pre booked only- visit ticket store to buy tickets

I am a Historic Houses member what should I do?
If you are coming to visit just the gardens and Hawk & Owl centre you may just come along – please bring your tickets.

If you do want to come on a castle tour there will be a small fee of £5 per person – please call 01229 717614 to book and make sure you have your HH card with you when calling

I want to walk around the castle on a self guided tour, can I?
At the moment for yours and others safety the castle is just open for guided tours – pre booked only – please buy in the ticket and store

What is open?
The Gardens, the Meadow Vole Maze, toilets and the Hawk & Owl Centre are open
There will be a world of owls demonstration at 11.30am & a sky hunters display at 2pm daily– on a first come first serve basis and the Herons will be fed at 4pm each day.
The Castle will be open for pre booked tours – you can buy online now to book yours!

Are the toilets open?
Yes

Can I get food while I am there?
The Owl Garden Tearoom & the Café will be open daily serving light refreshments. We are happy for you to bring packed lunches and have a picnic outside if you like.

Which tickets should I buy?
If you would like to go on a castle guided tour, buy the guided tour tickets – these include the full attraction, including access to the castle on a tour, access to the Hawk & Owl centre and the gardens
If you just want to come to the gardens and Hawk & Owl centre you can buy the summer general admittance tickets

I already bought garden tickets but I want to go on a guided tour too, how do I book on?
Please give us a call 01229 717614 with your ticket number and we can take the additional payment for the upgrade by the phone

Will there be flying demonstrations?
The World of Owls display will be on at 11.30am each day – but please note it is first come first serve for the shows. The sky hunters demonstration is on at 2pm daily on the wild flower meadow. The Herons will still be fed at 4pm

Are the tickets valid for the full day?
All tickets are valid for entry from 10.30 to 5pm on the date of the ticket- the guided tour tickets are valid all day but only valid for the time booked for the tour

How guidelines should I follow on my visit?
You will need to follow the below guidelines while in the gardens. If you keep to the social distancing and do not touch any hard services (the toilets are cleaned regularly) and maintain personal hand hygiene there should be little risk, However please do stay alert, respect others and use the hand santizier and washing stations provided.

  • Please do not come if you or any member of your household are displaying any coronavirus symptoms or feeling unwell- follow Government guidance and do not enter the gardens
  • If you see a member of staff– please be ready to show your tickets from afar
  • Maintain social distancing at all times (2 meters)
  • The toilets are deep cleaned once daily and refreshed regularly depending on usage. Please maintain personal hand hygiene
  • Follow one-way systems where applicable
  • Respect others and their space
  • Please buy your tickets before entering
  • Hand sanitizer stations can be found throughout the gardens.
  • If you do touch any hard surfaces please wash your hands or santize afterwards.
  • Limited numbers will be allowed into the Hawk & Owl Centre at once, so please be aware there may be a small wait to enter.
  • The indoor MeadowVole Maze will be open. Please make sure while you are trying to escape you continue to keep your distance!
  • Be Kind, and also maintain distance from our staff- as they are humans too!
  • From the 24th July – you must wear face masks in the shops and the castle

Can I bring my dog?
Yes! Please keep your dogs on a lead at all times. The dog will not be able to enter the Hawk & Owl centre or the castle, so if you do have a dog – you will not be able to go on a castle tour- please bear that in mind when booking tickets

How do I buy a ticket?
Please visit the tickets and store tab, select the type of ticket you would like to purchase and follow the steps. (Please note the tickets are non-refundable)
