the hub of Muncaster is of course the Pennington family. At any given time up to three generations of the family still live at the Castle. Muncaster has been home to the family since 1208 when the original Pele tower was built but there are records of the family in Cumberland dating back to 1066. Its a fascinating history, to read all about the Pennington family follow this link https://goo.gl/1NYg6a
