Gardens
Experience sheer natural wonder at the ‘Gateway to Paradise’ (Ruskin) with views over to Ravenglass (the only coastal village in the Lake District National Park) and over the Esk Valley toward Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain.
The Gardens, dating back to the 18th Century, are now home to one of Europe’s largest collections of Rhododendrons. Alongside all the beauty, the team are working in partnership with the Royal Botanical Gardens at Edinburgh amongst others, working hard to conserve endangered plants and trees. Your visit to Muncaster helps to keep this vital work going, protecting our natural world for the future.
Due to the rugged terrain on site some paths are unsuitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. The ticket offices will be able to advise you on which paths are most suitable. Sturdy footwear is recommended when walking in the castle grounds.
